Well I am working on some socks for a co-worker of mine. I hope she likes them as they are purple which is her favorite color. I haven't been able to figure out the brand or type of yarn it is. I know where I bought it but can't find a label and can't seem to remember off the top of my head. Right now they are very wee since I just started them and haven't knit on them at all so I will post a pic here pretty soon so you can actually see them. I got a new camera for Christmas so they will actually be visible.
In other news I am thinking of knitting my first shawl I just need to narrow down the patterns. I kept telling myself I was going to knit one last year but never did, so I am going to force myself to knit one. It will probably be more of a shawlette because I would never have cause to wear an actual full size shawl, whereas a shawlette could be used like a scarf.
Well I am off to do some more cleaning and laundry ahhhhh.

Slowing Down A Bit!

Well as you can see I haven't written for over a month now. I am happy to say that even though I hated to leave the blog for so long at least I had a good reason to.
First off, we are finally moved into our house! The kitchen is done with just a few little cosmetic things left to do. The downstairs bathroom is plumbed out enough that we can go to the bathroom and we can take baths. No working shower as of yet, we have bought the kit for the claw foot tub and we are waiting on my father-in-law to bend some tubing to make a circular shower rod. We are currently working on our washing machine and dryer. We are thinking we are going to have to buy a new washer (not good). And as far a getting a wood stove we are all set on that front we just have to put it in. (Sort of not looking forward to that) I am looking forward to nice wood heat though. The gas bill came last month ($130.00) and we hadn't even been living here the whole month. I can't complain too much though because at least we have heat and at least we can pay the bill. We have been back and forth over paint colors for the rooms in the house. So far we have painted things very neutrally and we were both getting a little bored with that, so... for the downstairs living room we are going to paint it a bright orange, the trim will all be painted out a bright white to balance, and the carpet down here is a creamy color. So the only thing that is going to look horrible are the sofa and chair set that we got from a friend they were so wonderful to give them to us for free. So I have been trying to come up with a plan to make them work by either covering them, or buying some new furniture and moving these ones elsewhere in the house.
But onto other things, we moved the cats over a few days after we had gotten settled in, and they seem to love it. They both have figured out that if you jump on the counter and then on the fridge and then on top of the cabinets that you can get up on our exposed beam running down the center of the house. So when you come into the house you may be greeted with a meow from up above.
The knitting front has been pathetic where I am concerned. I am working on a pair of toe up socks for a co-worker who was so sweet to crochet me Christmas doilies for my dining room table. They are very pretty by the way. That is all I am working on and nothing has been finished, haven't had a whole lot of time to sit and knit.

Hello All!
It is going to be a wonderful day. We are going to have about 18 people over for dinner and we are very excited to see the family. The menu includes things like... mashed potatoes, turkey, green bean casserole, yams, broccoli carrot Au gratin, strawberry jello (with cranberries, walnuts, mandarin oranges, and pineapples), rolls, ham, gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potato pie, other various pies, and of course stuffing. All of that is of course doubled so now we can feed a third world nation. Thank God my mother-in-law had the foresight to ask some of the family to make stuff and bring it, especially with 19 people coming.
As for knitting I am currently working on a tube scarf for the Hubs, it is black and orange stripes for the Beavers. This year he has recess duty every other week and so it gets pretty cold. I think that I might make him a double knit argyle scarf in black and orange too. I also cast on for another pair of socks, they are in a charcoal grey-black sort of color. The Dr. Seuss Socks are both off the needles and now I am attempting the afterthought heel, which has been interesting, at least I can put the sock on and see if I need to decrease or build out more. I like that. So they have been on a time out and that is why I haven't finished those. I do not think that I will be doing any Christmas knitting. But who knows I might decided to throw something together at the last minute. I need to start getting in the habit of knitting things all year round collecting them and then gifting them appropriately.
But enough jibber-jabber, I will wish you a HAPPY Thanksgiving!!!

Its been awhile!

Well... Again I have been a bad blogger. I haven't been on here in almost a month again. But I do have some good news... And it is what has been keeping me so busy.
I finally found a new job, I am now a paraproffesional(aide) at a local elementary school. I work in the resource room and I get to focus on groups of kids that are falling behind in their education, and since class size doesn't allow for a proper teacher to student ratio they send their kids down to us. I am really enjoying it. It's really nice because now my husband and I have the very similar hours since he teaches 1st grade. Unfortunately I didn't get a position at his school but I got one just down the road. I am so happy now that I get the same days off and I can do stuff after work. And the big thing is now I can actually see my husband.
As for the knitting front I am still working on the self striping doctor suess socks but I did get the waste yarn put in for the heel and I am close to the cuff now.
As for the house we are almost done putting the cabinets in and my father-in-law thinks that we may be able to put the countertops in this weekend yippee!
So that is what I am going to leave you with for now.

Here are the socks I have recently started. The yarn is Three Ewes Twisted in Fiber, colorway kerosene. I am really liking this yarn so far. I am intending to do an afterthought heel with these socks (my very first ones) I hope that I do them right. This yarn is very pretty and soft, the stripes are red and teal. I will post more soon.

I am almost done with the socks, which I should have been done with them ages ago. I keep putting them down to get other stuff done, like finishing our kitchen. So I am going to cast off here soon. Thank goodness, because I am really sick of these socks. I can't wait to wear them, but I am so done looking at them.

I also want to finally get started on another Thermis cowl, in red for our Realtor, she didn't help us find the house but when we decided to buy it she was so patient and helpful to us that I want to give her something warm to wear. Especially since looking at houses during the fall and winter seasons here in Klamath Falls, are really cold.

So hopefully more to report soon.

Bad Me, Bad Me!

This is starting to become a bad habit, I am becoming a horrible blogger. You would think that I didn't have anything to say, which is quite the opposite. I don't have any pics because I am posting at work to sort of tide you over. I have started the gusset increases on my socks. They are getting close to the heel. Hopefully I can turn the heel later today. My husband and I are hanging sheet-rock tonight. So we shall see. I don't have to work tomorrow but I do have to work on Friday so I will try to blog again tomorrow. I will post some pictures of the house progress and I will post some sock progress.

Well you would think that I fell off the face of the Earth. I am sorry that my blog has been derelict for so long. We have been super busy with our house lately there is never time and when there is I am either working or sleeping.

But anyhow I do have some stuff to blog about house and knitting wise...

I am knitting these socks out of happy feet and as usual they don't have a color name. I bought this at our newest local yarn store, Come Yarn Over. They are a great store and I love going there. So we went from having no stores to having two. They are working together so to speak, they have a mutual agreement to try to sell different stuff from one another so as not to compete. Which I think is great.

As for our new house we are still not living in it, but we are very close. This coming weekend we are going to put up sheetrock, then since we alread bought our cabinets, its just a matter of putting them up. Then we will tile the counters and the floors.

So I have been getting to work in the yard a little so that has been nice, turns our we have a sprinkler system. It needs a little work and maybe a few more heads added but I am excited that we have something that will make watering such a large yard.

So wish us luck and hopefully we will be in our house by the end of July.

Well I once again falling behind on the blog. Sorry! I have been busy doing other things like this...

We cut the wall out between the kitchen and the dining room to open it up a bit.

We have taken the sheetrock off of everything and actually the sheetrock is completely gone on the bathroom side as well.

And the floor is coming up to make way for new plumbing and new flooring that is in better shape.

Here I am in the master bathroom taking the particle board up off the floor. Hopefully we will be finished ripping out things and start putting things back in.

Well I finally finished the Tiki socks. My husband bought me this yarn, it is from Knitpicks, and it is their Felici self striping sock yarn, in the colorway Tiki. I really think they turned out very nice. (If I do say so myself)...

If you notice on the top of the sock where the orange stripe meets the yellow stripe there is a little pale pink stripe interrupting them? I am going to try the afterthought heel because that isn't supposed to happen and the socks look a little bit nicer in my opinion.

We are getting closer to closing on the house, they just have to put up a new front door and we will go into closing and get the key. Wish us a speedy process.

I'm A Bad Blogger!

Well so much for blogging more regularly, things have been a teeny weeny bit busy around here. Greg and I bought a house, Yippee! We are going through the whole paperwork and waiting for closing and all that gobbledygook. I am super excited and so I will do a before and after series for you guys to see what it will turn into.

As for knitting here is what I have been doing...

Here is a little hat to go with the baby blanket I made, I thought it might be nice, since they live in a part of Oregon where it is a little bit drizzly around this time of year.

This is Tiki in the Felici self striping yarn from Knit Picks, (my wonderful husband got for me). I still haven't tried the afterthought heel yet I suppose I should at least get on with it, since it looks so nice when its all done.

And as for spinning it is more than the last picture I put on here, but I haven't spun for like a month. I haven't been really doing much on knitting or spinning. But since I haven't posted anything in forever I thought I would update some things.

Here is the end result of the baby blanket I was knitting...

I used Knit Picks' Comfy Worsted in the Color Doe. I knit the pattern from Ravelry.

It was a very simple blanket just a double moss stitch border and a broken rib stitch inset. I think I would do this again but I will change some things like the yarn will be a little thicker and a needle size larger so things will go quicker.

Well we finally have a new local yarn store in town again, YIPPEE! It is called Laize Dayz Yarn & Tea Shop. They are set up in a relatively small store right now but they are quaint and cozy. I haven't bought any tea from them yet, but I have made a few other purchases...

This is Marathon Socks in the color Interlaken, it's pretty pinks and creams and browns.

Cascade Yarns Heritage Socks, it's pretty greens and a little brown. No color name

I love these little sheep stitch markers from Lantern Moon.

I also had to get this wonderful little orange drawstring bag also from Lantern Moon. It is actually an orange color but here is sort of looks yellow.

Well first of all here is the progress on the baby blanket...

I used knitpicks comfy worsted in the Doe color. I am just doing a simple double moss stitch border with a broken rib stitch inset. I need to hurry up and finish this because my mother will be needing it soon. Also because I miss knitting my socks and other little items, plus I want to knit a shawlette really badly...

I think that I am going through a new phase. I really didn't dislike or especially like owls, but there are so many cute prints out there that I find myself being drawn to that stuff more and more. The other day I was at the store and they had a roll up cosmetic bag and I had to get it for my knitting notions, and here it is.

And then today I was out and about and saw this and I had to get it. It is so cute and it will make a good throw anything in type of bag.

Isn't that adorable? Working on the blanket got a few more inches on it and hopefully I will finish it soon, I would like to try maybe a shawlette or something.

Baby Blanket Progress

Well here is the baby blanket that I am knitting for my mom to give to someone else. It is knit up out of Knitpick Comfy Worsted, which is 75% pima cottong and 25% acrylic, in the color Doe. I like the yarn but I hate this circular needle, it was the only size 7 that was long enough that I could find and the metal is so slick that the yarn is threatening to jump off every chance it gets. The border of the blanket is double moss stitch and the inset is broken rib pattern.

Baby Blanket

Well I am knitting a baby blanket for my mother to give to someone for a baby shower, so she is paying me to do it. I think that it's kind of cool to get paid to do something that I really love doing, but I don't like the deadline thing, could I get used to it sure why not.

Here is a picture of the edge, not much yet...

It is much longer than pictured here. It is about 30 inches long. I have to do another inch or two of the double moss pattern and then I will do a broken rib pattern with the same double moss stitch for border. I found this pattern on Ravelry. I am knitting this out of Comfy Worsted from Knitpicks. I thought it would be nice to be able to wash it without losing its shape. The color is doe. This is going to a baby boy when it is done, if I have time or inclination I might knit a little hat or something as well.

New Adventure!

Well I just received my order for some roving and a drop spindle. I got it yesterday and I am loving it so far. My arm is getting so tired but it is fun. I just have a little high top whorl spindle and the fiber is Merino Top I got 8oz for 17.95 the color is amethyst. Well my first yarn so far is everything that it should be thick and thin, but it is fun, I am going to two ply it , this is the first 1/8 of the 80z.

I am off the finish my Thermis and spin some more. The spindle I have is just a plain unfinished tool so I was thinking of making a design myself I just don't know yet, because I can stain it or I can paint it with acrylic. Any suggestions?

Here are the photos for the finished socks. I finished these up on Friday but wanted to wait for them to block and all that stuff. I knit these out of StitchJones color Anjelica 100% superwash merino wool. They are soooo soft. I wore them to my sister-in-law's baby show on Saturday and everyone loved them.

The blue back ground makes them look a little faded but they aren't they are very bright. Sorry for the blurriness.

Well I finished the stitchjones socks that are like a purple, orange and green color. They are soaking so I will post picks of them on the blockers soon. Meanwhile...

I ordered some yarn from Three Ewes Twisted In Fiber, it is self striping in the Kerosene colorway, 100% Superwash BFL. It is sooooo squishy!

They are so awesome they sent a little business card, with handwritten info about the yarn on the back. Along with a Valentines day card (I got this a while ago). They sent a little bag of candy and the invoice had a handwritten note saying that they appreciated the purchase.

Well so much for more regular blogging. Oh well I have been knitting some socks they are almost done, so I thought I would post some progress pics. These are knit up out of Stitch Jones Color Goes to Eleven. The color way is Anjelica, 100% superwash merino wool. Very pretty I like the colors a lot very harvest time type colors.

I really liked this yarn I would definitely use it again, it is so soft and squishy I love the bold colors too.

Swift Adventure

Well I used my swift I got for Christmas for the first time yesterday and I love it (Thanks Mom!)

This yarn is Stitch Jones Color Goes to Eleven color Anjelica.

It is 100% superwash merino wool 100 grams approximately 450 yards.

I love all the pretty colors oranges,greens and purples.

It is very soft and squishy.

I have never used a swift before so my skein is sort of crooked.

This is my Knitpicks ball winder, I love this little thing it is cool because you can use in your hand or attach it to the table top.

I caked it into two balls so that I could start on some plain vanilla socks and I will be posting pictures of that later.

Well I am currently at work with not a whole lot to do which probably means that I will get some knitting done (yipee!) All that is going on is a birthday party and some baseball workouts. So I might actually get home on time.
I went and applied for an office clerk job yesterday, even though it is less an hour than I currently make but it's more hours. So I still end up making more. The other plus is I will work during the day, that is if I get it (fingers crossed).
I just knitting some more plain vanilla socks but I am doing different colored toes, heels, and cuffs. I am using up some of the yarn that I used to knit sock for people at Christmas. I will take some pictures and post them a little later.

Well I haven't been keeping up with all of my resolutions, and one of them was to be a more regular blogger. Which as you can all see I haven't been doing. One of them was to lose weight, been so busy at work I don't feel like working out (excuse alert). I have been really sporadic about reading my bible, so technically not living up to resolution of reading everyday. But the one thing I have been really good about was knitting more socks this year, in fact I have a hat to show you as well.

The hat follows the NFL Superfan hat from Ravelry. I did not however use cascade 220 for the pattern, I used Red Heart Super Saver and I think that it looks great. I made this for my husband.

These socks are part of my New Year's Resolution, I couldn't find the ball band for these so I cannot remember what the yarn is. So if you or you know anyone who does I would greatly appreciate it. As you can see these are not perfectly matching stripes, but in order to do so I would have had to sacrifice a lot of yarn which I wasn't willing to do so here they are. But I like them as they are.

Well I have started a new job, not one that I applied for but one that my current job changed to. I was working for one club, and then the club is now being run by someone else. So I have a little bit different responsibilities now, and less hours. But they are trying to find me hours, that way Greg and I don't lose our chance to buy a house, which I appreciate immensely. So I work for our local YMCA. I get a free gym membership, which will help with the weight loss resolution.
On that topic, I am already knitting a pair of socks, so that will get me started on another one of my goals for this year.

Resolutions

Well, I have been away for a while. I have decided to tell you some of my resolutions for this year.
1. Read my Bible everyday
2. Lose Weight
3. Find a better job
4. Buy a house
5. Knit More Socks
6. Be a more consistent blogger

Those are just a few of my goals for this year. I will post a picture of my mother-in-laws socks that I knit for her Christmas present. Hopefully tomorrow.

Grandma's Crazy Socks

Well here they are! I have been trying to find where I put the camera chip at so I could take a photo to post so you all could see. These are my Grandma's Christmas present. Just plain vanilla sock was all that she asked for so I thought I would make them look fun with some really, really bright yarn. Just Bernat Sox, color Crazy Hot!, they are knit two toe up at the same time. They were easy and fast, now I have a little time to work on my mother-in-laws socks, which are a bit more complex.

I really like this background, but blogger lets you upload a picture from your computer that you can put in the background, but apparently it won't let me do it. I would love to put a knitting picture or a picture of the trees with snow on them something that I took myself. Then I could change it whenever I feel like.

We went shopping yesterday and I stopped at Middleford Yarns & Stitchery Shoppe and picked up some lavender eucalan, and I got this...

This has beautiful colors of green, purple, blues, and some mixed in between.

I love this it is so squishy, it is Malabrigo Sock, 440 yards of superwash merino wool. I am going to spoil myself with some socks for myself yipee. I can't wait to see how this knits up, I have never knit with it before. I will be getting some pictures of my grandma's socks as well as my mother-in-law's sock progress.

New design

Well as much as I like the blog design I have now I feel like its time for something new. I am excited because blogger has recently been making it easier to customize your blog using their tools. I used to use their templates when I first started and then I started downloading free ones that people had designed privately. I really think that I am going to enjoy this process so in the near future you may be seeing a new face to Leeniebeenie Knitting.
I am finished with my grandmothers socks and will post a pick soon. I have almost finished the toe of my mother-in-laws socks. So I will also post a progress pic of them as well.

Well I finally finished the socks for my mother's Christmas present. Here they are... The pattern is Wendy Johnson's Dead Simple Lace socks, from her first toe up sock book. I used Plymouth Yarn Co. Happy Feet for this. Color unknown. They are approximately size 8.5 and I haven't blocked them yet. My mother wears 8.5 - 9 shoes. This picture is outside on my mother-in-law's deck. I like the trees in the background because they have the same yellow as the socks.

Now I noticed something when I was knitting these. I knit these two at a time from the toe up, magic loop. The skeins of yarn were bought at the same time but as you can see there is more green

in the sock on the left than there is in the other one. There is also not as much yellow in the one on the left as on the right. But I still love the way they turned out and hope that my mom loves them.

I am now going to work on my mother-in-law's sock and I finally found a pattern that looks good to me. I am going to knit Riff from the latest issue of knitty. I have cast on for my Grandmother's sock as well and should have a little bit to take a photo of soon.

Well here is the progress so far on the socks that I am making for my mother. They are a little over half way done. I have started the lace pattern on the back of the leg now, you can't really tell since the stitches want to roll back. I am knitting these out of Plymouth Yarn co.'s Happy Feet yarn, color way unknown to me. I am using Wendy Johnson's Dead Simple Lace socks pattern from her first toe up book. I am liking the way they are turning out I thought that the pooling of the colors in the yarn would detract from the lace pattern but I looks very nice.

In other news I started and finished a simple stockinette hat for myself, I was testing a size for the hubs because I want to make him the Chargers Super fan hat and I didn't know what size he would need, so I knitted one up for myself in the same yarn but different color.

I made it out of Red Heart Super Saver multi, can't remember the color. Sorry this picture is so poor, I took a picture of the back of my head. I used size 6 needles or 4mm. I am going to use the same for Greg's hat but his will be striped with dark blue, white, powder blue, and electric yellow.

In other news I got a kindle and I absolutely love it. I thought that because it is electronic that it would be harder to sort of use my imagination to the point where the book would just disappear, but I am not having any problems with it at all. I have been going through some Ilona Andrews books, I read some Nora Roberts on there. I have really been enjoying it. Greg got me a nice LED book light for night time so that I wouldn't keep him awake with the side table lamp on.

I am hoping to get these socks finished before the end of this week and get them posted on the Socktoberfest Ravlery club. I am such a loser, I was hoping that by joining this group that it would spur me into action and I would get a lot of Christmas sock knitting done. Almost one sock later... Oh well I did get sidetracked by a hat and other patterns, and work.

Well hopefully I can post some more progress tomorrow, try to get back into the swing of things and blog more, I know that I keep saying that I will and then I lose track of it all over again. I am still finding time to read everyone else's just not write on my own.

I got the camera from Greg today so I could post some progress on the Dead Simple Lace Socks, which is a pattern from Wendy Johnson.

So here is the picture:

I am using Plymouth Yarn Company's Happy Feet no idea what the color way is. These will be for my mother at Christmas.

So there is the progress of this pair so far. I have two other pairs on the needles but seeing as how I haven't gone any further than the last time I took pics I think it is a little redundant to show them until I can snap to and start doing some more knitting around here.

Well I have been working hard on the socks that I showed you before, I have no pics to put up because the Hubs still has it at school. I am almost the the turn for the heel of the Dead simple Lace socks for my mother. I keep changing my mind about what socks to make for my mother-in-law. As for the stiped black and purple ones they are on hold. I still need to pick a yarn out of my stash for my grandmother's Christmas present. Anyhoo I am hoping to get some pics this week.

Okay so I uploaded these photos from my phone via flickr. I am not happy with this at all. But oh well I wanted to show you that I have been doing some knitting. The first ones I am knitting the heel of I am knitting for myself. They are made out a bamboo mix and I just wanted to test them out to see if they would stretch out I am using a simple vanilla toe up sock pattern.. The red ones are Happy Feet and they are a Christmas present for my mother-in law the pattern is Wendy Johnson's Heart Toe Up Gansey socks. The third ones also Happy Feet and the pattern I am knitting those in are Wendy Johnson's Dead simple lace and they are for my mother.

I am still on the look out for another better job. Still working at the soccer club. Greg and I went and checked out some houses last week. I think I am going to have to be a little bit more vigilant in my emotions because we only went through 3 and I loved the last one so much. I could see us living in it.

I took the train up for my best friend's wedding. Starting to think I need to work out a little harder yeesh. I looked fine in my dress but I wish that I looked better.

I am home now as of 10pm last night. I missed Greg so much my goodness.

I also miss blogging and knitting on a regular basis this job is sucking a little to much of the life out of me.

Well I am finally here. I never have time for anything fun anymore. I have been really stressed out with work, I have been coming down with some yucky cold. I love working up at the soccer club, but I get so tired of not being able to finish any of my own work, because nobody else seems to be able to do what they sign up for and then they just shove it off on me. Greg has started teaching so he is there less and less and I am there more and more. He feels bad because he usually keeps people bothering me to a minimum, and the only reason he is staying on as director is because if he leaves they will force me to take over and I don't want it. So in the meantime I am looking for another job, and a way to just volunteer out at the club for the future.
The lights in the office are flourescent and they are giving me headaches while I am at work. So someone suggested opening them up and unscrewing half of the bulbs in side. That way they don't flicker as fast and cause my brain to sense the miniscule light changes.
But on to knitting I would post pictures of my progress except the camera is at school with Greg. So that is a no go. Hopefully I will finish with those today and maybe be able to start planning what I am going to do with all this other really pretty yarn I have bought.

Well it is the end of August and I have nothing to show in the way of progress except for a paycheck that I will get in like 3 days. I have been so busy (bored) at work that I haven't had any time for knitting. But today is my day off so maybe I will watch some SG-1 and finish up those socks.
In other news we are going to Medford this coming Saturday. I always get so excited to go to Medford. I love it there because of Middleford Yarn & Stitchery. They are a nice little all around stitching type place great knitting selection. Part of me gets a little sad when I go there because it is always on the weekends when we go and they are having their Saturday and Sunday social knitting time. It makes me miss our little local yarn store and it makes me mad that I hadn't lived here long enough to really get many chances to go into it before she closed her doors. But oh well.
While we are in Medford we are going to get Greg some new teaching type clothes more button up shirts dark wash jeans, slacks, that sort of stuff.
We are really getting his classroom set up, he is in in-service this week, next week is the first day for kids ahhhhhh. He had this ugly built in storage in his classroom that was all open and weird looking, and I had offered to make him some curtains if he found a fabric that he liked. But we came up with a better solution. Walmart was having twin flat sheets on sale for 3 bucks so we bought two and the I just opened the seams on the edges and slipped them onto a curtain rod, they were perfect I didn't have to hem them or anything. We had also went to Home Depot and bought a carpet remnant for his carpet area, and the principal had told us this would be fine, but then come to find out the district has a rule about the length of carpet fibers and how it affects the air quality. The principal felt so bad she bought Greg and brand new kid friendly rug for his room, it cost 300 dollars, the remnant we bought cost 55. We tried to convince her not to that we would just improvise and he would save up for a better rug, but she wouldn't have it. He has a smart board in his classroom which is nice.

Well, so Greg and his team had a tournament in Portland this weekend and we drove up the coast early so we could spend some time with my parents. Well since I have moved from my where I spent most of my childhood a yarn store moved into town. I was pretty excited I thought while we are there I can go... Well we find the store it has already closed down. So I say oh well lets still plan on going to the spinning store on our way to portland. So we put the address into the gps on our phones and it leads us right to where the store used to be... Turns out it had moved locations and the new place was way out of the way for us. So we didn't go and I didn't get to test out Wheels :( So we got into Portland and Greg and I both have like 2 or 3 stores that we want to go to lined up on the agenda. We have it scheduled around the game times. Our car starts making this grinding noise when we break, now it sounded like a rock got stuck in the wheel and we weren't having trouble stopping. But it turned out our break pads were completely gone. So there goes a lot of our spending money and we had to walk to the feilds carrying all the heavy soccer bags. So we finally got the car fixed and then we tried to go to some of the stores Greg wanted to go to and we couldn't find them. ahhhhhhhhh.

Other than that we did find a store with teaching supplies for Greg long after we left Portland and we find what could pass for a yarn store and got some nice yarn....

Well I am doing it I am knitting 2 toe ups socks at a time thought it would be confusing but once I hit the rhythm it is all that bad and I love that it goes quicker now that I am using size 1's instead of 0's. My Grandmother wants a pair of socks for Christmas. Hmmmmm what do you suggest? She owns her own farm so I am thinking that maybe just some simple stockinette but with really pretty colors and or stripes. Let me know what you think.

Well I said that I would put better pictures of the Bavarian Cables Socks up and here they are. I know the pictures still stink but hazards of a bad camera.

I think that you can see the stitch pattern a little better though and that is what I was going for.

I like the colors in these socks, the only thing I don't like is how tight they are when going over the heel and ankle area. So I am very happy because yesterday my new size 1 circs came and yippee now I think that should do the trick.

These are taken out in the back yard, this is the greenest patch of grass I could find. In Klamath Falls we have canals that supply water to the farmers that live outside of town, and well all these canals go through town and through our neighborhood and some people like to rig up pumps to send free water into their yards or gardens but this year we are a little short and so some farmers were chosen over others to receive water. Also that means that water supply is short for others. So the backyard isn't receiving its normal sprinkling because the front yard is getting most of it. Also since we are using water that we pay for we have to limit out use. We also have spritzers rigged up around the eaves of the house and we turn them on in the afternoon to cool down the side of the house that gets the most sun.

Well I am not a crocheter be I decided to try it out when I saw this cool scarf on Ravelry, it is called the Broomstick Lace Scarf .

It is going very quickly, because you crochet around a size 35 knitting needle so each row is like an inch long.

I took some pictures of it outside and I thought that this yarn would be good for a autumn season type scarf.

I like how it is turning out and I am thinking of making another one but maybe in a more solid color so that the lace is more on display. I think that because the lace is big that lots of colors work just fine with the pattern but I think it would be nice in heather grey or something like that.

Well I finally finished the Bavarian Cables from Wendy's first book Socks from the Toe Up. The one on the left is darker because it hasn't completely dried. As for the picture sorry it is sort of crummy. I need a new camera. I will take better ones when the one sock is dry.

Also in answer to Unraveled Librarian yes I did get the bird out, and surprisingly without it or me having a heart attack.

I am also waiting on some more circular needles from knit picks, I am going up a size A) because I clutch the little size 0's til' they bend, and B) even though the socks that I knit up on the size 0 fit I would prefer a little bit roomier socks, and because I am lazy and refuse to alter the pattern mathematically I will just go up to 1's. I am hoping that these will be better for my hands as they seem to get so stiff(probably from the previously said clutching) when I use the smaller ones.

Well I woke up this morning to a bird in our house. It apparently flew in through the open screen door and was stirring up quite a ruckus. My cat Reeses was very intrigued by this as you can see here.

Here you can see it is sitting in that planter and Reeses is sitting on the arm of the couch right below it.

This is where it landed next on top of the cornice box of the blinds. I have other pictures of it where the bird is in the ficus and Reeses is right below him staring up through the leaves but you can hardly see the bird in the photo.

Also update on Bavarian cables socks they just need to have their picture taken, which I have neglected to do I will do it later and probably post it at the latest by tomorrow.

I have almost finished the cabled socks. They will be done today yipee. I am at work so this is just a quick little update. My boss (the hubs) won't mind if I take a break to do upkeep on my blog. I am not sure what socks I want to cast on for next and seeing as how I seem to be prone to SSS I think that I am going to attempt to knit two socks at a time. I have some beautiful yarn that I bought (happy feet) but I also have some stuff that is sitting around and I think that I should try to bust some of my stash. Maybe ;)

Lurking in Your Backyard!

Well I just finished mowing and weed eating the back yard. I love mowing but hate weed eating. I can never hold the thing right so that the grass doesn't fly up and stick all over me. I looked like some kind of grass monster from the back yard.

Well here are some pics of things that I have been up to knitting wise.

And the sock that is taking forever. I am so going to finish this (I think). I get to working on it and then something else gets in the way. So every couple of days I get like a row or two done on it. I started the increases for the gusset so I then I can do the slip stitch heel and then I am home free almost.

Well Greg got home late Saturday, we woke up went to Parade. Then we went and picked up supplies for Greg's mom because she needed stuff for dinner later. Then we bought fireworks. We came home Greg took a nap, I made Rhubarb Strawberry dumplings. Family came, we ate, we lit fireworks. Then Greg's mom, Greg, the kids and I went to a our "spot" to watch the big ones that the city does every year. We came home and went to bed.
Lets skip ahead to Tuesday Greg gets to phone calls to come and interview for teaching positions he goes to the first gets a job and didn't need to go to the second one. Yippee He got a job!!!! He is now the first grade teacher at Stearns Elementary. I am so proud of him he finally got it and it is only his second round of interviews and he only just finished his first year as a substitute. I am so excited to help him get his classroom all squared away. My mom wants him to give her a list of all the things that he can't purchase with his allotted budget. Everyone is really excited for him.
So I will be taking over some of his responsibilities at the club and I will then be making more money and hopefully get a raise. So hopefully before Christmas we will have our own house.

I am going to try to wait for a bit for a spinning wheel because if I want something that I can grow with that comes with some more options for different yarns then I am probably going to need to save up quited a bit of money, and seeing as Greg and I are saving for a house not a whole lot can go towards a wheel. Unless I hop on Ebay and just get any old cheap thing, which some of them are actually not old and not cheap, but it is also a good choice. But it worries me buying something like that on face value from ebay.
Anyhooo back to knitting I have been a real dishcloth stint. I have my socks almost ready to knit the slip stitch heel, but I just have been going for the super simple stuff, that I can knit without paying attention. I will post some knitting pics tomorrow.
I also have been pretty busy because I have been working all day to cover this soccer camp that we are having and since Greg is gone I get a majority of the hours. Yay bigger paycheck. ok not that much bigger. So I haven't had a whole lot of time to blog during the day. But hopefully I will be able to blog some more this week.

A wheel

I am breaking down. I told myself I would never want to spin, that I would never want a wheel. But I am very interested and I have been researching and watching videos I think I have lost my mind. I want one now sooooo bad. I am thinking about getting a Lendrum folding Wheel hopefully the complete package, cus that just seems to be a good way to go, it is good for beginners has attachments so that I can eventually do sock yarn (which is what I would predominately do) it comes with a lazy kate, a jumbo flyer (a plying head) 4 standard bobbins, and a fast flyer. It does 6,8,10:1 12,15,17:1 5,7,9:1 so I am thinking this is a good all around wheel, plus it is a good brand. I will be making a trip north and there is a store nearby that sells spinning wheels so if I have enough saved up then maybe I will come home with a wheel.

Accident

Well last night was the Klamath Kruise, and I was going to take pictures. But some unforeseen incident happened. Fallon (my niece) fell in the shower and cut her head open so we were rushing around trying to decide if she needed stitches. So we took her to her Aunt Deb's house(she's a nurse). Then after that she didn't need stitches just butterfly band aides, so we doctored her up and went to the Kruise and I forgot the camera in all the hubbub.
In other news Greg is almost to Santa Barbara and he is already having a good time, but didn't sleep well (because there was no one to steal the sheets from him ;) ). Same here I guess it isn't as fun to steal the sheets when there is no one to steal from.
Today was nice I talked to Greg early and then I helped my mother-in-law plant flowers in her yard.
Hoping to get some time to knit today and take some pics. Also the ring that Greg gave me, like all jewelry does not photo well with my camera, so I will have to try something else.

Klamath Kruise

Well tonight is the annual Klamath Kruise, where everyone in town and out brings their classic cars to show of in a parade downtown. I am not a big car wierdo, but I do like to look at some of the more unique paint jobs, and some cars just can't be anything else but cool.
I am a little bummed because Greg won't be there in fact he won't be here for the rest of the week. I am dropping him off at 2pm today so that he can carpool with another guy down to Santa Barbara for a soccer clinic for coaches and players. I don't want him to go but I want him to go. Ahhh complications of life. I think that it will be a good experience for him, but I think the longest we have been apart is like two days. Not that we are both big babies or anything(OK I am) but we just really enjoy each others company. Which is good since we are married. But like some married couples they do a lot of things apart and that keeps their marriage healthy, we just aren't like that, yes we both have things that the other one doesn't do but we still try to include each other in that as well. So I am proud of him for getting the opportunity but I will miss him lots.
I am going to take pics of the cooler cars tonight and maybe post them on the blog if anyone is interested. If there are an abundance of orange cars it is because I am taking pictures for Greg so he can see what he missed and his favorite color is orange.
Knitting wise again no pictures I have started another dishcloth. And I finally am getting back the last of the Bavarian cables that I have left to sit (which is just despicable). Those should be done soon so you should see pics of them soon (fingers crossed).

derelict

That is what my blog has become derelict, lost in space where no one ever takes care of it. I have been getting busier and busier, and my poor blog has been getting neglected. I also haven't been knitting lately. But hopefully that will change soon.
On to other news, Greg got an interview through the county school district and it looks pretty hopeful, especially since he is just finishing his first year as a sub, most of the time the senior subs get called for interviews. He got a great recommendation letter from a local principal, and so we have our fingers crossed, we should know later today or tomorrow.
My brother-in-law and his new wife are buying a house which her aunt and uncle are selling to them for really cheap. They don't have any money saved up so this is a good deal for them, the house is a cute little manufactured home, in a mobile home park but it has all been redone and it's very cute.
Now everyone is pressuring us to buy a cheap little house like them, but Greg and I want something that is practical to put money into, we would like to see a good return on our investment, and having a house like that wouldn't do it for us. Plus we have like 10,000 saved up for a down payment and we wouldn't want that to go to waste. And as much as I would like to just jump on the next opportunity that comes our way I don't want all that hard earned money to go down the drain.
I interviewed for another part time job as a preschool teacher, I haven't heard back from them yet, but in all honesty and not too worried about it seeing as this would only give me about 48 more hours a month more than I already work currently. But they keep saying that jobs are on the rise here so we will see maybe I can just get a better full time job or something. A girl who I work with at the soccer club is resigning from part of her position as ref coordinator so maybe I get more hours that way too.
But wish us luck maybe by chance this will get us one step closer to a house.

Well again there are no pics for this blog.
We have all been very busy with my brother-in-law and his new wife's wedding that happened this Saturday. It turned out wonderful, and the bride looked gorgeous. My husband Greg was in the wedding party as a groomsmen to his brother. They wore black tux's with pink vests and my husband looked very handsome (if I do say so myself). The theme was pink and silver, turned out very nicely. My neice and nephew were in the wedding and they were adorable. They got married on the 12th and our anniversary is the 13th.
Now I was realizing that when I first started this blog that in my profile I put that I was married, because we were getting married a couple of months later, but Greg and I just celebrated our 1st full year of marriage yesterday. He gave me this beautiful ring so I will post a pic of that. Or I would if I had my camera. I will post it later.

House/Dog Sitting.

Well again I have fallen behind on my regular posting, but again was busy and where I was the computer was not so great. Greg and I were house/dog sitting for his cousin and her husband while they went to a graduation in Colorado.
Their house is very cute, sort of cottage style, but she has given a little bit more modern flair and a feminine touch it looks very nice.
They have 3 dogs, Murphy(German-wirehair), Shay(unknown), and Sunny(also unknown). They are all very good dogs but they get really antsy when she is away, and she can't kennel Murphy he has anxiety problems. So enter us. I love going over there and sort of having our own house temporarily, and the dogs are great.
But sometimes it makes me sad because Greg and I are still trying to find high enough paying jobs to make a mortgage payment each month and still have money for all the other bills. Thus we are still at Greg's parents house. I am very thankful to them for providing us with a home, but after living on our own in our own place for 5 years it sometimes feels like I am reverting back to childhood. I miss being able to buy stuff for your own place and sticking where you want it, I even miss complaining about all the things that are wrong with the house.
But in other news I have no other new knitting to post for, I am almost halfway with the second sock of the bavarian cables.

Well Greg and I went to Medford this weekend because he was coaching a U19 boys soccer team at a tournament. I had no access to a computer (having rid myself of our laptop years ago) I didn't make to my blog to post. But I have some fun stuff to post about.

As I think I have mentioned our local yarn store here in town closed up. And so if I want anything other than what Joann's has to offer then I either have to drive over to Medford or I order it online. Well I've never been to the yarn store in Medford but it was wonderful, I went this Saturday and they were having Social Knitting time. Everyone was so nice and helpful and the proprietor of the store (Middleford Yarns & Stitchery) Sonya was just wonderful, very helpful she has a great atmosphere in her store everything was open and bright but there was also nooks and crannies where you could just curl up and knit for hours.

So to what I got, I bought 4 skeins of Happy Feet yarn 2 of each color as they come in 50grams and I wanted to have enough for socks.

In other news I got a lot of time to work on the second sock of the Bavarian cables.

Well I said that I would post pictures a few days ago, and then I got sick with some stomach bug or something. I was on the computer a lot but didn't feel like any knitting or anything, so I zoned out on season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I did promise to show pics of the one sock I have finished of the Bavarian Cables. I do not have pictures of the shrug I am working on but will soon.

As you can see I did a shorter leg than Wendy did, but I am not a fan of longer socks, I told myself that I would do it but the longer the leg got the more I didn't like the idea, so I did enough length to show the patern on the leg and then did the k1p1 ribbing. I was worried that these would be tight because of the the cables but it worked out great and I blocked the sock, it is just right.

I finally finished the sock, I will have pics for you tomorrow. So I am halfway done, but the socks are going to be on hold for a while because I started a shrug that will match my dress that I went and bought on saturday for my brother-in-law's wedding. I thought it would be nice if I had something I knit myself to wear. So I chose a lace shrug and I am going to knit it in black it will go with my dress. I will also post pics of that tomorrow as well.

Around The Corner

I am finally finished with the heel, YIPPEE!! I am started on the leg. Now I always avoid most heels, I always will do a short row heel, but I stuck with the pattern and it turned out great. It was surprisingly easy. Here is a picture of it.

I am using the Bernat Sox Pink Camo I like the look of the slip stitch heel and how it stripes in this yarn. I was worried about the back of the leg once you are done with the heel you are supposed to pick up wherever you are in the top of the leg so the cables will match the whole way up. I thought it might look funny starting right before the twist but it looks just fine.

To The Gusset!

Well I am almost to the point where I need to begin my increases for the gusset. I have never knit a sock like this but the pattern seems so simple you just keep knitting in the pattern on the top of the foot and then for the sole you make increases at the beginning and end until you have so many then you do something similar to a short row heel for the turn. And then you knit a slip stitch heel flap. Sounds easy enough.
Here is the progress so far on the sock it's shorter than normal before I start the heel which scares my to death, but oh well it's a different heel and so I will follow the directions.

Well I have made a little progress on the Bavarian Cables sock. It doesn't look like much but it is another 16 or so rows since yesterday. I recently found out you could put your in progress projects from Ravelry on your blog for all to see. I also found out not only do they link back but they also have pictures that can go along with the bar. I thought that was really cool, just another way to get knitters on Ravelry. And it organizes it for bloggers.

Lily Pads

Well I haven't been on my blog in forever. I have been busy working up at the complex with my husband. I haven't had a lot of time for blogging, well I have been making time to read other blogs just not to work on my own. I knit some more worsted weight socks, for around the house slipper type things. I think the color way kind of reminds me of a lily pad, because the greens and browns are like the pad and then the pinks and whites are the flower. It sounds silly I know. But here they are...

As for the Bavarian Cables socks I am failing miserably to get them done, I am knitting on them just at a very slow pace. Oh well hope for more news.

Is how I feel right now. We have all had the flu like crazy around here and it is finally going away. I still don't feel like all my internal organs are where they should be. But oh well... I haven't been knitting at all been too sick, haven't been doing much of anything really. But I thought I would check in and see how things were going and make a little bit of an appearance. That's supposed to get a few chuckles from my 3 public followers. Anyhow I will be signing off to go rest some more. Maybe I will pluck up the courage to knit.

I started these eons ago. I am finally going to get back to them, I really would like another finished pair of socks to wear. I think that I will make these about the same length as a typical crew sock. I usually go with ankle socks because I like ankle length socks (also cus I get lazy and just finish it as soon as possible). But I found them today when I was reorganizing our room and decided enough is enough! So I will be ignoring everything else until I finish these blasted socks.

This is the scarf I finished last week, but neglected to post it and well I sort of forgot all about it. It is the Easy Lace Scarf pattern I found on Ravelry. It is as long as I am tall, well I guess that isn't saying much since I am only 5'5 1/2". But it is a nice long scarf. I knit it up in some Vanna's Choice worsted weight yarn, color linen. I like it, it isn't a typical color for me so it will be new to my wardrobe. Or it will be gifted to someone but I don't know who yet, I am sort of hoping it will just hit me, as to who I should give it to. If not I will wear it.

A Hat!

Well Greg asked me for something specific that he can wear out and about when he is at work (the soccer club). It gets a little chilly here in the spring time, especially later in the day. So I knit him up a hat, I like it and now I kind of want to design him something else, so that he can have variety. We chose colors that go with his clubs color scheme. and just did something simple... The c is a little crooked, I need to block it out a bit because its stitches got a little too tight.

My birthday is tomorrow, I am going to be 24 years old. I have no idea what is going on tomorrow. I am going to go treat myself to some knitting stuff while Greg is coaching soccer camp, and then we are supposed to do something that is a surprise.

I finally finished the second sock of the blue striped pair. Even though I knit it in less time than the first it still took me forever. I need to start setting myself deadlines. But here they are...

If you look really close the one on the right is slightly lighter than the other one, that is probably for a number of reasons, A) could be because the second sock is from a newer skein, B)I have been carrying the first sock around in my purse of months, and it probably got a little faded. But you can also see that the striping isn't exactly a math, that kind of stuff doesn't bother me, it is pretty darn close though.

So I also posted because I didn't realize how long it had been since my last post, yikes. Oh well, I finally found a little part time job as well, I am sort of working for my husband, at his second job. So we will see how that works out, at least it will pay off my school loans. I get to meet some interesting people as well. We work at the local soccer club, and there is a lot to do. The fieldhouse where we are is pretty awesome, and I actually ran some birthday parties last weekend. Anyhoo that's all for now...

Well as of the 27th I have finished these pop top mittens. They are very comfy. I like them and plan to wear them a lot. I am going to make another pair soon, I am going to change the pop top a little make it a tad longer because it is a wee bit too short for my taste. I had a couple of problems with the second thumb. It was too short then it is was still too short, so I ripped it back to the beginning and started over and finally got the thumb right. So here is my knitting challenge for the Olympics that the Yarn Harlot was holding.

Well it has been a long while since I last posted. Well in my last post I told you that I was going to knit the Newfie pattern for the Olympics, well I got halfway and did not like them at all. So I decided to go a different route. Instead I am knitting these... They are called Urban Necessity. I thought they would be perfect. Well according to the measurements my size should be a small, but I started that and they were too tight for my taste. So I knit a bigger size and this is the first one done TADA!

I did change a few things to suit my hand a little more but other than that I followed the pattern to the letter. I am going to finish up the second one and then I will be making this again but I have decided to knit them in a fun variegated yarn this time.

2010 Knitolympics

I am going to participate in the Yarn Harlot's Knitting Olympics. I decided to knit a mitten pattern. I chose the Newfie pattern off of Ravelry. I think that I can do this, in 17 days. I am also trying to finish those socks, up but I keep getting distracted. So we will see. I don't have any pictures as of now, the batteries in my camera are charging.

Well I am finally going to finish this pair of socks. I went in and bought a second skein of this color and I am moving along rapidly on this sock. I should have a pair in a day or two. I am finally back into knitting, I was putting it off for a few days (not sure why). I also have been putting in quite a bit of time down at my father-in-law's shop so I haven't had a lot of free time to just knit. Anyways, I am going to go work some more on my sock.

Well I put up some outdoors photos that I took while walking. I used a Flickr badge, as you can see it is in my right hand column. I thought that some people might want to look at something other than my cats, now matter how cute they are.
Well I've been getting a lot of work down at my father-in-law's shop. I have been getting crash course lessons on the big industrial sewing machines down there. It has been a lot of fun. I went to Joann's and picked up a 2nd skein of that blue striped yarn so that I can actually complete the second of the pair. I also had the foresight to pick up a second skein of the same yarn but a different color, of which I already had one. Now when I get to those for socks there will be enough yarn. I haven't gotten anywhere with my knitting. I am pathetic. But with work, and coming home and working on more stuff, I don't get a whole lot of time for knitting, but I could use some of my reading time to do more knitting. Or be a multi-tasker and do both at the same time.

Fallon's Pajamas

Well I sewed up these pajamas for my niece Fallon last week, I also made some for my nephew Mattix, but I didn't get a pic of them. I would have posted them sooner except I got distracted with a lot of little things, and then I couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted my blog to look like, but I have finally picked this one and I am going to post a pic of those pj's. I haven't done a lick of knitting (shame on me). I keep meaning to get something done. But maybe the mood will finally strike me soon.

Bavarian Cables

Well as of recently I have started to knit this sock. This picture does not do the colors of the yarn justice. The peach color is actually a bright pink, and the green is actually dark grey. But I just wanted everyone to see the cool cables. I am using Wendy Johnson's Bavarian cables pattern from her book.

I have been helping out down at my father-in-law's business. He runs his own hunting pack store, they sew everything from pack bags, to binocular cases. I have been doing the monotonous stuff that is very time consuming that keeps the girls (his employees, Deanna, Sandy, & Deb) from sewing things. But today Sandy taught me how to use the big sewing machines, and let me sew strips on the back panel of the packs. I was very nervous, seeing as the needles go so much faster than regular sewing machines, and they can sew right through your finger without stopping. But Sandy said I did great. (yay me!) I am so envious of their skills, I know they have been doing it a lot longer but it is pretty intimidating. My father-in-law is also a whiz at the machines but he doesn't do to much of it anymore. I have been having a lot of fun down there. Well that's all for now.

Well I finally finished the sock. It looks pretty good, I think. I need to buy another skein of yarn for the second sock. I do have a little bit left of the other skein and I am not sure if I want to use it for that though. I am going to start another sock I think but I don't know what pattern to do, but I want to try something other than plain vanilla socks, and I also don't want to do anything with lace in it. I am saving that for the summer. It is too cold right now for lace work. But we will just see.

Well I made it past the heel, now all I have to do is decide how long I want the leg to be, but seeing as I am partial to ankle socks I might go slightly higher than my last anklets but not to much past my ankle itself. I will have to remember how I did this as well since I will have to buy another skein of yarn to do the other sock and thus it might be a while before I knit the second half of this pair. But I have big plans for the sock yarn that Wandering Cat sent me so I am really excited because I told myself that I couldn't get into that yarn until I was done and could give all of my attention.

Well I am thinking about joining a sock of the month club, but I am not sure which I should join, I never really realized how many of them were limited by location of groups. I think I might join the The Great Sock Off of 2010 off of Ravelry. But then again I am not to sure which one I like yet if there are any other suggestions please leave them in the comments. Well I have been taking lots of pictures of my two kitties to send to my mother because she got them a new cat bed for Christmas and I thought she would like to see them using it.

And I have finally started to try and finish this sock after all the time it has spent in my purse you would think that it would be further but I was neglecting it. I noticed that it was getting a little patch of laddering so I ripped it back to try and fix it. I am now past that and a little further on. Here is the pic.

Well Jeez it has been a while since I posted. Greg and I had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. We got lots of great gifts from our family. The hubs got me a kit for dyeing my own yarn. Yayyy. And he got me lots of white undyed yarn. I am excited he is going to help me dye some of it here when we get some time. I got a lot of things from Knit Picks, as well, sock needle holders, a new retractable tape measure, sock blockers, and a yarn ball winder yipeeeee. All the cats are very healthy and we are all doing great, I don't have any pictures of any FO's so I will have to get started on some other projects for the new year.

Well Reeses ended up being fine after all, he had a virus that caused a liver infection. He was really sick and after a few visits and overnight stays at the vets office, he is back to normal. Except for the fact that he has a few bald spots from where they had to shave him to give him IV's for his medicine. But he is back to his frisky self and running around like crazy.
I finished my dad's hat that I knit for him. I don't have any pics of it but maybe I will get one with him wearing it. I have to wrap all the presents for my parents and Grandma, but I also have to get ready tomorrow because we are leaving for my parents house on Wednesday. I decided to print out a bunch of simple patterns for my Grandma because she is a knitter and a crocheter but she likes to knit dishcloths and scarves. So I am making her a pattern book.
I am going to miss my babies when we leave them but we will be back on Sunday and Greg's mom loves them a lot so they will be just fine. Anyhoo I will get back to tomorrow.

Well once again we have a sick kitty. My baby Reeses has a got a virus, but they gave him some fluids at the vet and gave him some antibiotics there and for us at home to use. I hate it when they are sick, I don't like seeing them so fragile and non-responsive. My two boys are pretty rambunctious and you can see it easily when they don't feel good. Any prayers or good thoughts would be appreciated.

I have finished my niece's hat it turned out very cute. It sort of has a slanted striping going on. It should go with her snow suit very well. My mother mentioned that my father's fisherman hat that I gave him for Christmas last year is wearing through, so I am making him a new one that is a lot thicker. I have started working on it but I

decided not to take any pics of it til' it is finished. But I will tell you what yarn I decided to use for the project. I am using a Super Bulky Wool-ease Thick and Quick from Lion Brand in Charcoal. I decided to knit it in a k1,p1 ribbing so it is nice and stretchy, I am knitting long so he can roll up the brim to wherever he prefers. That is about all, I will be posting a pic soon.

Well, I am sick and it wasn't too bad at first but now I have no voice, a nasty cough and I am all stiff everywhere.
But I still went Christmas shopping yesterday, looking for some stuff for my dad. He is a tough one to shop for. I am going to knit him a thicker fishing hat to go with some of his stuff. We went to the mall and I was so suprised it was practically deserted. I don't know if it was because it was early, or if it is because people are trying to be more conservative this year or what. But oh well...
I got a newsletter from Lion Brand today about their new yarn that they came out with that has the look of handpainted yarn, it is pretty cool looking. It is called Amazing. I actually really like the look of this stuff. I wish that our local Joann's had it, because I am not sure if the LYS will have it, since she sticks with more expensive, and remote brands but sometimes I can find a mainstream brand in there so you never know.
Anyways I am off to go to the local Christmas Bazaar, then to Joann's, and then to go look for some new tennis shoes for Greg's indoor soccer games.Hopefully I will be able to make it without passing out. See ya...

Well I am so excited my package finally came
YIPEE!!! Wandering Cat Studio sent me some of her yarn and I am so psyched. She sent three Bernat Sox, in Crazy Hot, Desert Storm, & Faded Denim. Also she sent me some Opal Cotton, in Petticoat Cotton. Last but not least some Tofutsies in Feet in the Sand. I am so excited about all the new yarn. Thanks Valerie. I soooo wishing that I hadn't made that promise that I would finish all other projects before I started anything new.
Here is a picture of our dog Otto, he is a 6 month old German Wired Hair puppy. He ways like 50 some odd pounds.

So he is going to be a huge dog before he is done growing. Isn't he cute with his little furry beard. I like his eyebrows.
Anyhoo I am going to go look up some new sock patterns for this yummy yarn. I haven't got any FO's yet, or any progress pictures but I am close to being done with the other Kiwi cabled sock. I am also having a hard time finding a pattern that I like for a mitten. Any suggestions? I am definitely at a loss as to what pattern I want to do. There are so many out there. I like the newfie pattern among many others.

Well Thanksgiving is over.
I am exhausted even two days later. I helped with the dinner preparations. I made a sweet potato casserole, a green bean casserole, a butternut squash gratin, and I made a cream cheese, strawberry jello dessert. Then we had mashed potatoes, stuffing, turkey (of course), ham, rolls, another jello thing, corn, apple pie, pumpkin pie, and a pudding fruit pie.
All went well, afterwards Greg, his cousins, and I all played the Wii. And then made plans for game nights. We have all wanted to do it for a long time but there was always something conflicting, but now it will work. YAAHHH.
My nephew wasn't too sure about what to eat at dinner so we let him snack on some olives. HE ATE 30 of those stupid things before he was satisfied. I like olives too but not that much.
Well I decided that since it gets so cold here I won't be doing outdoor knitting, so will not need pop top mittens. So therefore I will knit normal mittens.
I am having a hard time with my purl stitches when they are in between knit ribbing. I can't seem to make that first stitch after the knit stitch tight enough. NO matter how tight I pull it is still seems to leave a big gaping spot there. It mostly happens when I am doing cabling because the knit stitches are pulled so tight when they are being twisted. But I know that I should be able to fix it, I just don't know how.
I don't have any pictures sorry, soon I will post some FO's.

Well this is a picture of my niece in her new little Dora the Explorer jammies. Isn't she the cutest little chubby butt? I have to admit it is really nice that they can go back to their own house, especially tonight they were both terribly cranky (because they were tired). But then when they are gone it is so quiet here. I even miss little Fallon tangling all my yarn up. I
Well my mother-in-law is lending me her yaktrax, which are rubbery, metal things that stretch over your shoes. I love to walk and since it gets so icy here I don't want to hurt myself. I am trying them out to see if I like them, and then I think that I will go out and get them or put them on my Christmas list.

As for knitting I got the bottom ribbing done on the hat I started. I am going to pick it up as soon as I am done with all other projects (maybe)hehe. Everybody wants me to knit a hat for Fallon because they all liked Mattix's so much. So now I got to go find some really cute girly yarn for a hat that has lots of colors. So now I have to knit a cute hat for this little munchkin.

Well here is the picture of my nephew wearing his new hat this morning. I love the way it looks from above him. His sister absolutely hates hats but she kept trying to rip this one off of his head so we had a couple of fits today. Went to the Shepherd's Market Bazaar today. It was really neat they had so many booths there with handmade goods. My mother-in-law made me feel really good though when we got to the knitting type crafts she told me that I should do my own booth with knitting and quilting. I also like to quilt but I haven't been able to post anything about that seeing as my sewing machine is all packed still. Tomorrow I am going help sew up some new jammies for the kids though. I'll take pics to show you, the fabrics are so adorable.

In other news my mother-in-law absolutely loves anything M&M and today we were at Albertsons and they had a big stuffed Red M&M with reindeer antlers and a candy cane so we got him as an early Christmas gift for her so that she can put him up before Christmas. We took pictures of the kids hugging him (and then later squabbling over him).

There are no pictures of Fallon with the M&M guy because she looked away for all of them and so I had to delete them.

I also started work on my new hat. I know I know I was supposed to finish all other work before I started. Relax I just cast on for it so that I could pick it up when I am done with the other stuff.

Rainbow whirlpool

Well I finished my nephew's hat today. It turned out pretty neat. I was originally planning to do some cabling but when I saw that the colors were swirling I decided not to make it to busy so I stuck with a p3, k2, p2, k2 ribbing, with a normal decrease. So here is is...
I am going to finish the kiwi cable sock and then I have a really beautiful hat pattern (Claudia) for myself that I am going to knit up in a couple of days. I has a lattice band mixed with ribbing. I have some beautiful yarn in a linen color. I almost forgot that I have those pop top mittens that I started and so now I have to finish those as well.

Well I finally finished Greg's black and orange hat. It turned out great. However I could not get him to model it for me in a picture so maybe next time. He said that he loves it. It looks really good on him (if I do say so myself). I used black and orange sport weight yarns. The black was regular acrylic red heart I think so that knit up nicely. Now the orange was a Kid 'n' Ewe (local brand) but I thought it was a bit thready for this type of project so I would suggest using it for things other than that. But here it is.

My mother-in-law liked Greg's hat so much that she asked if I would knit Mattix my nephew a new hat as he is grown out of his old one. She said she wanted lots of bright colors, so instead of choosing all those different yarns I just decided to go with the Red Heart Kids multi worsted weight yarn. It is soft enough that he won't find it itchy, which is great for toddlers. So here is the first side, somehow I got it doing a slow spiral and I just stuck with it.

Here is the second side, which doesn't look as good in this picture because of the brightness of the red. But trust me it is still really neat looking on this side as well. I think that he will really like it. I am not going to waist time on making Fallon a hat because she hates them with a passion.

I am halfway done with the second sock of the Kiwi socks. I am excited I really am on a roll, and I am finally finishing my projects. I have one more after this but it is sort of my travelling project so I am not fussed about finishing that right away. But the next project I want to cast on for is a pair of Wendy Johnson Socks, from her book, "Bavarian Cable socks" or I want to knit these socks from " The Big Book of Socks" by Kathleen Taylor, they are called Diamond Tracings socks. But back to work I go.

Well I finally finished the second sock. I frogged the heel 3 times, for some reason I just didn't like the way it kept turning out but now I am happy with it. I started the second sock 2 days ago and I now have a complete pair. I am now inspired to finish all the other pair less socks I have started. Like that kiwi cabled sock that I finished ages ago and I have been dreading the second sock because of all that cabling I have to do but maybe I will just get started on that later today. Here is also a picture of my niece from this weekend while she was eating mashed potatoes. She still hasn't grasped the utensil thing yet and since the bowl got left right where she could reach it she decided to dive right in.
Needless to say she needed a bath immediately. She was so cute before this she had her hair in little pig tails on top of her head and her little dress was so cute and clean. But I have to admit she does really seem to be enjoying herself immensely.
Well I will get to work on all those unfinished projects that I have just sitting around waiting for some attention.

Morning Walk

Well I went for a walk at about 6 yesterday. I took a couple of photos. Here is a couple... This first pic is of one of my mother in-law's roses. I took this one as I was walking out of the yard. This next photo is of the little bridge that I walk over to get to the trail. It was all covered with snow and ice. Good thing there is a railing, because one of the planks is got a wicked crack in it. This little bridge goes from one side of a little irrigation canal to the other. This photo is of the trail that I walk along the canal. It is nice and open out here, the neat thing is that I am still close to home because the trail curves around to behind our culdesac. The vegetation is all frosted but I liked the way the grass was leaning and sort of sparkling in the sun. I like the sound of the frost and ice crunching under my boots. I couldn't get a picture of it but. As I was walking I kept hearing a another crunching noise besides my own. Well I kept turning around thinking someone was on the trail with me or maybe there was an animal in the bushes. But when I finally found the source of the sound I just about fell down from laughing. In this backyard there was a trampoline and it was all covered in ice and snow, well when I took a closer look there was a German Wire hair dog just jumping on the trampoline. He wasn't on it with anyone, he was just out there all by his lonesome, but I think he liked the noise he was making while he was jumping around. Well I finished a sock from a totally different pair that I started (shame on me for falling into the SSS pattern) but here it is... It is colorway Banana Berry. There is a lime green, dark blue, sky blue and a yellow in there. This is a typical toe up sock but I just customized it to fit my foot. I don't have much more news than that other than I have started on the match to this sock.

Well it turns out that I have been reading my favorite blogs and commenting and you know what I was signed in as my husbands google account from his work. So if any of you have a comment from Basin United its really me not my husband. I usually leave it on my sign in and he changed it and so I was unaware. OH well worst things could happen.
I have gotten a ways on my other sock I started... I would put a pic up except I just realized the batteries in my camera need to be charged and somehow my extras were stolen. Someone probably borrowed them. I am so excited Wandering Cat is sending me some yarn, I feel like its Christmas and I am waiting for a present in the mail. I don't know how long it takes to get from Ontario to Oregon but I am psyched. (Thanks Valerie).

Starting over

Well I was knitting on the mittens I started ages ago, when I discovered that only one mitten was a pop top. Apparently the pattern does that because you only need one hand to operate the camera and thus the pattern only depicts how to knit one of the pair as a pop top. And that is not what I want so I am going to reverse the directions so I can have both be a pop top mitten. I am glad I started over anyways because I was getting really bad laddering too.

Well Joann's Fabrics has always had this Pink Camouflage in Bernat Sox and it was always like 6 bucks, I didn't want to spend that much on one pair of nice socks, so I have always bought stuff around it. Well I got a 50% of a regular priced item and I got them for 3 bucks, yahhh. I bought that in a heartbeat. I know that it isn't any special yarn or extraordinary hand painted yarn but I have always loved the colors.

Well I am going to go apply for a job at the local Department of Human Services, my degree covers quite of few of the jobs they have there. So wish me luck....

I finished the cowl just casted off and here it is...

I knit it out of some leftover Caron Simply Soft worsted weight yarn. It isn't anything special but it is very practical, I think that is why it took so long, because it was a very boring knit. But oh well. I can wear it to Greg's game tonight.

Well on Sunday we went to the corn maze here it was pretty cute, the maze wasn't too difficult, but the kids loved it. They had a sand box there for the kids but instead of sand it was filled with dried corn. They had hay rides there too, although we didn't go. We got the kids some pumpkins while we were there.

Well the winter is finally starting to hit around here. We just got our woodshed completely filled on Sunday so that is good. The last few days have been pretty overcast and today is very windy. We are supposed to get wind gusts up to 40 MPH today. I grew up on the northern Oregon coast where that is the average speed, it can get pretty windy there.

As for knitting progress, I haven't done anything on my mittens but I am five rows from casting off for my cowl. I am sort of excited because the weather is getting chilly and it always nice to have something warm around your neck.

Greg is subbing today at a different school than usual, is the city school district, which means he will get paid a little bit more per hour. Which is always nice to put in the down payment for a house fund.

Anyways I will type more later....

Happy Halloween

I love the holidays!!! I helped my mother-in-law decorate for Halloween yesterday, we couldn't get either of our husbands interested, but oh well. My father-in-law was reading the paper, and my hubs was resting his knee that he wrenched. He tore his lateral miniscus when he was 18 and 7 years later it is better but gets sore when he plays full speed, and when it is cold. It tried to snow yesterday morning but it didn't stick around.
Years ago when I was getting ready to go to college I wrecked my car, we paid to have someone fix it and redo everything. Now as the years have gone by little things are acting up with my car and it makes me mad. First the electric radio antennae broke, then the seal in the back passenger door is sort of loose, so when you drive 50 or faster it sort of whistles. Then the dashboard started to pull away from where the windsheild meets the hood. Then this summer the first 3 of 4 levels of Air conditioning stopped working so if you want to cool the car down you have to sit in an arctic blast the whole time. And now when you are driving the parking break light keeps flickering even though the lever won't go down any more. Anyhoo I am not sure if I should tell the guy to give the money back so I can go get it fixed or have him do it again (although he did a cruddy job the first time).
So no new knitting from me this week so far I have been in a hailstorm of craziness.

Malfunction

Well the fridge is on the fritz. It started when it was making a loud buzzing noise while is was making ice cubes, then it stopped making ice all together, then today it decided it was going to put any water out, and now it has stopped being cold, but only on the freezer side, so my day was spent finding room in the other freezer trying to make room for the stuff from the dead freezer, and it wouldn't have been so bad if there wasn't so much meat that is a hundred years old and can't really tell by looking at it. I found a popsicle in there that looked so dried out, it reminded my of an old dirty piece of snow after the thaw. So my mother and father-in-law are probably going to look for a new refridgerator.

On to my progress on knitting, I found a great pop top mitten pattern and here is the progress so far....

The light isn't that great in this picture, this is the first of the pair, I found the pattern by accident when I was looking at a pattern on Ravelry. Ravelry has a pattern that is similar but with a a slightly different finish. I am almost done with the cowl and have been knitting on that when I go to Greg's games. It is a stockinette stitch so I don't need to look at my work, which leaves me free to watch the game.

Well speaking of Greg he is sick and not feeling very good, he probably caught something from one of the kids he works with. He lost all of his built up immunities over the summer so he is hoping to get that back soon. Meanwhile I am not sick and very happy about it, because I always get sick and it lasts forever.

So no more new news here so I guess that is all for now.

Well my back is starting to get better, I was able to sit on the floor with the kids yesterday without the spasm of pain that I usually get. I couldn't sit there for long, but it's progress. Slinkie is getting better very quickly he is bathing himself regularly and he is going outside again. I am so thankful to everyone who had good thoughts. Well the hubs had his first JV game and they tied 2 to 2 Which is great because half of the kids on his team had never even played before. The Varsity played later and they won 3 to 1.
Fallon had her 1st birthday yesterday. We casually invited a few people, and when it was time for the party to start we thought for sure no one was going to make it, but then bam!!! The doorbell rings and everybody is there. We had five little ones running around the house, Fallon herself, her brother Mattix, and her guests, Jaycee, Willem, and Chase. They were so cute.
As for knitting I am almost done with the Cowl, and I started some fingerless mittens.

Well the antibiotics are working for Slinkie, he is moving around, a little bit more bright eyed and he is eating. He is wanting to go back outside, but since we have to keep him on a 8hour in between doses we can't let him go since we don't know if he will be back in time for a dose. But that is a good sign. The other reason we can't let him out is because he will go eat a bunch of grass and then throw up his medicine. Sneaky little poop. Anyways I appreciate everyone's good thoughts and just ask them to keep it up for a little longer.
