Home Again

Well we got back from Christmas with relatives, and even though I had a blast I just feel so glad to be home, and not having anxiety over what is going on while we are gone. We took our two cats (Slinkie and Reeses) with us. Since we go for such a long time. We got to go sledding I crashed twice, my husband says it is because I shared the intertube with another person and it sent us down the hill funny, but I think that it is my knack for being incredible accident prone. My husband G and his mom and I got the truck stuck and some nice people had to drag us out with a chain. I got to see my nephew(17 months) and niece (3 months), they are sooooo darn precious. Made them both hats for Christmas. My father-in-law loved his hat and my Mother-in-law loved her scarf. We got to see my brother-in-law before he gets shipped off to Iraq. We had a blast on Christmas day and got lots of great stuff. G, his mom and I went to Church on the 28th, been a long time for G and I we used to go to church all the time but well we just could never find the right fit, and since we are moving soon, we thought we should start looking in our new home town for a place to attend. It felt nice to go and we love the church that we went to. Didn't get to go see my parents for Christmas yet because all the roads into their town are closed off because of bad weather. We are hoping to celebrate a belated Christmas with them next weekend. Anyways I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all a Happy New Year.

Abby's Pizza

Well we just got back from dinner at Abby's Pizza, which is our customary Christmas Eve dinner. We had a good time and ate til' we were stuffed. I tried to stay away from the fried potatoes those are my weakness. We are going to look for sleds for tomorrow and see if we can try to race down a hill to our dooms;)....

Merry Christmas...

Christmas Eve!!!

Well we made it down to our families yesterday. It was a nerve-racking drive with the roads (chains off and on). G and I are happy we get to see his parents, we both miss them and his brother got to come down from Colorado, to see us before he gets shipped out. It is fun, I have some much fun down here with his family. I am glad we could make it. On our way down we saw a 18-wheeler tipped over on its side in the median. I have had a lot on my plate lately and have had hardly any time to post anything. I wish you guys all a very Merry Christmas, and I will let you know what everyone thought of their gifts.

Christmas Lights!!!

Well I finally am able to work on my mother-in-law's scarf it is beautiful, but since the material is almost frayed looking I decided to do a traditional garter stitch and it looks great. And it is extrememly soft.

Well I decided to do a neighborhood outdoor lights competition. And here are the best three....
House 1.

House 2.

House 3

House number three is usually better, they do a diagonal light pattern across there yard. But it is still the best we give it a 8 out of 10 for neatness, and presentation.

Finished HAt

I finally finished my father-in-law's hat and I hope he loves it. Like I said it is a twin to the hat I made for my dad. I think that they will suit both of them well.

I am starting my mother-in-laws scarf. I got this beautiful yarn that is worsted weight, its an acrylic and nylon mix, from Red Heart, their TLC Amore collection. It is in the most beautiful color of red(red velvet is the name), that is her favorite color and it is so soft, I am doing a cabled stitch scarf and I hope she loves it. When I get a little further I will post the progress of the project. I hope to finish it before this weekend is over.

Talk later bye.

Lots o news

Well we finally got our tree decorated!!! I cannot wait to move out of this house so that we can have taller trees (low ceilings!!!) We went old school with the large bulbed Christmas lights this year. I like it sort of classic.
Went for a walk today with some kids that I watch and we found little birdie prints. It reminded me of those cartoons where they follow the tracks and they go all higgely piggely.

We have a neighbor who thinks this toilet is fantastic apparently. It is out all year, just with the flowers switched out. They haven't kept of with the times.

This looks like snow in Florida.

I love the way the snow just lays on branches, it's like they are gilded with snow.

Last night it snowed and this was some stranger's footprints past my house and he was the first to make his mark in the snow.

Well I finally finished my mother's scarf and it looks really good. I am currently working on my mother and father-in-laws presents. His hat is 1/2 way done and I can finally get started on her present I hope they like them.

Bad news for some reason lately my knee has been bothering me and turns out I have something called Chrondromalacia (runner's knee) I guess I got it because I have been working out to lessen my stress during the holidays as well as lose a few pounds. It turns out that the cartlidge under the knee cap is irritated and it needs it's rest.

Woohoo!!!!

I finally finally finished my dad's hat, it was just a simple ribbed stocking cap, but I could never find the time to get anything significant amount done. But here it is finished and it looks, good. I am going to make a twin to this one for my father-in-law.

So now his head won't get chilly when he goes fishin' early in the mornings.

I finally finished sowing the roll-up needle holder storage thingy. left. I ended up finding a pattern for a really cute pink felt roll up storage thing but I had all this left over purple fabric from a time forgotten. It is a little crooked(don't use my sewing machine all that often).

Step1.

Step 2.

Step 3.

Well I am going to stop typing because so far my 14 pound cat(slinkie, the white one) is actually laying on my arms and hands and they are getting tired from the effort of lifting up and down with him on them.

Talk to you later I think maybe I will post my dad's hat soon and possible my mom's scarf.

Knitting needles galore!!!

I am finally getting to that point where I have so many knitting needles I need to come up with a storage solution. I have been browsing for patterns most of the day and I am probably going to go with a rollup pocket thing. I have some fabric left over from some forgotten thing and so I figured I would use that. I think that if I took the time to actually sit down and do this I could probably get it done in about an hour. But who has the time? I am still working on my families Christmas presents. My husband was sooo sweet he said that I didn't have to make him anything because he doesn't want me to get any more stressed out since I have to finish four hats and two scarves probably whatever else springs up by the 20th I like taking my time on projects so I don't screw up anything but now I have to really speed up my process. But at least I have an excuse to knit as long as I want. Hehe ;)

Our landlords are here today I don't know why. I swear it is almost like they just want a place to park. Maybe they will fix the shower head that I called them about 3 years ago. Well if that is true they are too late I already bought a new one. I can't complain at least we have a nice house and our landlords are at least nice to us. But sometimes I wish they would come check on us or give us a call. I do feel sorry for them though they are trying to sell the house (it is a duplex) for 224,900, which by the way none of the other historical homes in the neighborhood (which are single family) have sold for more that 170,000, and that was like two years ago. I think that they want way too much for this place. I am just glad that me the hubby and our two cats are going to be moving in a couple of months to start different jobs and be nearer one side of our family.

In the works...

Well I have started my dad's Christmas present, which is a hat. I stuck with a simple knit 2 purl 2 stitch with this pattern first of all so I can be sure that it will fit, second of all cus' I think that a simple hat will suit his tastes the best. I hope that he likes it. It should be a good hat for him to wear when he goes fishing early in the morning.

I am going to use the same yarn and pattern for my father-in-law as well. They both are like peas in a pod, and I think this will be a good hat for him as well when he goes hunting.

I like this yarn because it has very cool little flecks of other yarn in it which you can't see in this picture but I think that it makes it look a little bit more rustic. I might make one for myself with a cable stitch in it. Not sure yet.

Voila

It took me most of the day to finish but I finally did
and it looks pretty good I was worried that there
was too many things going on in the hat but it looks good. The final test will be what my grandmother
thinks.

I started to get to the top and was worried about the transition from the cables to the center but it seemed to turn out alrignt.

Here is what the top looks like....
Looks good right well let me know what you think!!!

Another Day

I have been trying to knit on this cabled hat all day. I have been also trying to clean the house in case another realtor wants to come and look. It would probably be just my luck if I left my house dirty and then while I was away on holiday the realtor called and wanted to come over.

I am going crazy recently with these christmas presents I finally found a simple enough hat pattern that would be fine for both my father and fatherin-law. Everything I kept find up til' now has been to frilly, to messy, and just not right. I also finally found a beautiful scarf pattern for my mom-in-law. I hope she likes it.

Talk to ya tomorrow I might have this hat finished and have a picture up....

Progress so far....

I have started the base and I am getting close to starting the cables. I am happy with the project thus far, I hardly do anything with cables so here's hoping....

Cable knits

I am knitting this hat for my grandmother so she can keep her head warm when she goes out to do her chores. I am putting a cable stitch in so that it will be a little dressy so she can wear it to the softball games. (Those aluminum bleachers get really cold!!!)

I am super excited I have never used these circular knitting needles before so we will have to see how the hat experiment turns out. I am making this hat for my grandmother for her Christmas present this year.

Here is the start I will keep you updated....

Christmas Frenzy!!!

I am trying to save on money this year for Christmas by knitting all my presents. I am currently knitting a scarf for my mother. I found this beautiful zig-zag pattern and it(accidently) turned out really cool with the variegated yarn.

I am knitting a hat for my father who needs a new hat to go fishing, since it is so cold down on the river.

I am also knitting a scarf for my mother-in-law, she is also getting pot-holders to match her kitchen.

I can't figure out what to make for my father-in-law.

I have to have all of these knitted before both Christmas' we celebrate two every year so that both sides of the family are covered.
